Laser cutting, as a relatively new material cutting process, is becoming increasingly widespread in its applications. Laser cutting uses a laser beam to irradiate the surface of the workpiece. Through the conversion between electro-optical and thermal energy, the temperature at the beam irradiation point rises rapidly, melting and vaporizing the material to form holes. As the beam moves, these holes gradually connect to form lines.

Laser cutting has advantages that ordinary thermal processing cannot match. In general, it features high cutting speed and high cutting quality. Let's take a closer look.

1. High Cutting Quality

The laser spot is small and the energy density is high, resulting in excellent cutting quality. Laser cutting produces a narrow kerf, minimizing the cutting precision error between the upper and lower sections, resulting in a clean and aesthetically pleasing cross-section. Roughness can be accurate to the micrometer level. The heat-affected zone is small, and the material is minimally affected by deformation. Laser-cut material can be used directly without grinding or polishing.

2. High Cutting Speed

Laser cutting offers high scalability. The equipment operates through programming and can be equipped with automated loading and unloading systems, requiring no manual intervention throughout the process. The working efficiency of a single laser cutting machine far exceeds that of traditional cutting equipment. Laser cutting eliminates the need for fixtures and tooling, saving time associated with changing tooling for mold-type materials. The equipment can operate continuously for extended periods, and a water-cooling system ensures it maintains a constant operating temperature.

3. Non-Contact Cutting

Laser cutting eliminates contact with the workpiece, avoiding the wear and tear associated with saw blades and other molds. When processing various workpieces, there's no need to change fixtures; only adjustments to cutting parameters are required. The entire process involves no physical contact, resulting in minimal noise. Cutting residue consists of dust particles, making it easy to clean and minimizing environmental pollution.
