Surface Treatment of CNC Bending and Forming

Powder coating is achieved through the use of a spray gun which charges the powder as they leave the spray nozzle. Since the workpiece has to be able to hold electrostatic charges required to adhere the powder, the most common materials to powder coat are metals such as different types of steel. The opposite charges between the powder and the grounded workpiece ensures even adhesion.

The coated workpiece is then heated in the oven for the powder to cure, strengthening the bonding within the coating. Should thicker coatings be needed, this process can be repeated further. A major advantage of a coating is the physical barrier it acts between the inner workpiece and corrosive substances. Another plus is the wide range of colours available for coating, unlike plating which is restricted to the natural colour of the plating metal.

Blanking Technology of CNC Bending and Forming

Fine Blanking: Fine blanking or fine-edge blanking method compresses the whole material sheet before blanking. It uses two punches, the top and another at the bottom for the compression of the sheet. The fine blanking method helps companies achieve tighter tolerances and minimizes the possibility of burr after cutting. This method produces smoother edges while reducing polishing costs.

Continuous Strip Blanking: As the name suggests, this technique uses the continuous addition of metal sheets into the press. This feeding of metal sheets for blanking is called continuous strip blanking and helps in the accurate reproduction of a large number of sheets. This method is pivotal in large-scale industrial productions of parts such as bottle caps, medals, and coins.

Compound Die Stamping: Another key method of metal sheet blanking is compound sheet die stamping. This technique helps in the production of most complex parts, especially using steel. In this method, engineers feed the metal to the fast-output compound stamping machine. It accurately stamps the metal for the production of steel parts at a large scale.

Progressive Die Stamping: This method is different from compound stamping as it uses sheet metals in coiled strips. The machine stamps, trims, and bends the coils of metal. This results in the formation of conjoined strips that separate into identical and individual components.

Manufacturing Process

Design & Engineering Review
We start with a technical review based on customer drawings or samples. Our engineering team checks manufacturability, tolerances, materials, and application requirements to reduce production risks before manufacturing begins.

Laser Cutting
High-precision laser cutting is used to ensure clean edges and accurate dimensions. This process supports various metals and thickness ranges, providing consistent results for both prototypes and production runs.

Bending & Forming
CNC bending is applied to achieve accurate angles and stable part geometry. Process control ensures repeatability across batches and reduces dimensional variation.

Welding & Assembly Preparation
Welding and riveting are performed according to product requirements using controlled procedures. Fixtures and jigs are used where necessary to maintain structural strength and consistency.

Surface Treatment
Surface finishing options include powder coating, painting, and other treatments to meet functional and appearance requirements. Coating processes are monitored to ensure durability and uniformity.

Final Assembly & Inspection
Final assembly is completed in dedicated workshops, followed by inspection based on approved quality standards. Parts are checked before packaging to ensure they meet customer specifications.

FAQ

Q: What is your minimum order quantity (MOQ)?

A: We accommodate both prototype/small-batch production and high-volume orders. The specific MOQ depends on part complexity. Please inquire with your drawings.

Q: What is the maximum/minimum part size you can handle?

A: Our laser cutters can handle sheets up to13m * 7m. For bending, we can process parts up to 2.5 m in length.

Q: What materials can you work with?

A: We routinely work with cold-rolled steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and copper. If you have a special material requirement (e.g., galvanized steel, weathering steel), please contact us, and we can likely provide a solution.

Q: What is your standard production lead time?

A: For standard orders, the lead time is typically 20-25 business days. The exact time depends on order quantity, process complexity, and our current production schedule. We will provide a confirmed lead time upon order confirmation.

Q: How do you ensure product quality?

A: We implement a strict, full-process quality control system: from incoming material inspection and first-article inspection (using CMMs and other equipment) to in-process inspection and final inspection. We are certified to the ISO 9001 Quality Management System standard.

We are one of the most reliable CNC bending and forming manufacturers and suppliers in China, specialized in providing high quality customized service.
